As can be understood from the November 2022 Phenological Evalua- tion-Field Research Report of the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), it is seen that the 2022 wheat and barley purchase price and premium support of the Institution led to a change in the planting pref- erences of the farmer. It is observed that there is a tendency towards grains, especially wheat and barley. In oil sunflower and cotton, the fact that the price remains below the 2021 level despite the increasing costs keeps the farmers away from these products. The decrease in the prices of cotton, corn, and sunflower following their harvest in the country and abroad drove the farmers away from these products. It is stated that close to 30 percent of the cotton cultivation areas, especially in the rock bottom prices, have turned to wheat cultivation. TMO’s Phenological Evaluation Report confirms this. Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi’nin (TMO) Kasım 2022 Fenolojik Değer- lendirme- Saha Araştırma Raporundan da an- laşılacağı üzere Kurumun 2022 ürünü buğday ve arpa alım fiyatı ve prim desteğinin çiftçinin ekim tercihlerinin değişmesine yol açtığı gö- rülüyor. Başta buğday ve arpa olmak üzere tahıllara yönelme olduğu görülüyor. Yağlık ay- çiçeği ve pamukta ise artan maliyetlere rağ- men fiyatın 2021 yılının altında kalması çiftçiyi bu ürünlerden uzaklaştırıyor. Pamuk, mısır ve ayçiçekyağı hasadının ardından bu ürünlerin fiyatlarında yurt içinde ve yurt dışında düşüş yaşanması çiftçiyi bu ürünlerden uzaklaştırdı. Özellikle pamuk fiyat- larında yaşanan şok düşük pamuk ekim alan- larından yüzde 30’lara yakın kısmının buğday ekimine yöneldiği belirtiliyor. TMO’nun Feno- lojik Değerlendirme Raporu da bunu doğru- luyor. TMO’nun raporuna göre yedi bölgeden FARMERS LOSING MONEY FROM COTTON SHIFT TO WHEAT Farmers across Turkey shifted to wheat and other grain products since sunflower and cotton prices remained below the 2021 level along with the rising costs. It is esti- mated that the shift to wheat planting reaches 30 percent in some regions. Especially in Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa provinces, the trend towards pasta and bread wheat has reached 25-30 percent. Ayçiçeği ve pamukta artan maliyetlere rağmen fiyatlar 2021 yılının altında kalınca Türkiye genelinde çiftçi buğday ve diğer tahıl ürünlerine yöneldi. Bazı bölgeler- de buğday ekimine kayışın yüzde 30’lara ulaştığı tahmin ediliyor.
