BBM • APRIL - NİSAN 2023 6 NEWS HABER The institutes of the General Directorate of Agricultural Re- search and Policies (TAGEM) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continue to work on breeding high yielding seed variet- ies that are resistant to climate change and promote the cultiva- tion of registered species. The statement of the Ministry declared that while the prepa- rations for the “Strategy and Action Plan for Combating Agricul- tural Drought” continue, on the other hand, the institutes operat- ing under TAGEM continue to work on breeding for seeds that will ensure high yield and quality even in changing climate and soil conditions. In this context, 30 varieties resistant to drought in bread wheats, 12 in durum wheats and 19 in barley have been developed by the Research Institute Directorates and provided with the producer. Tens of thousands of materials are subjected to morphological, phenological and physiological tests at the Drought Test Center, which was established in 2010 under Konya Bahri Dağdaş In- ternational Agricultural Research Institute and ranks third in the world. To date, 19 varieties have been registered in the center after successfully passing the tests. The registered varieties have been transferred to the private sector and TİGEM in recent years, and seed reproduction stud- ies have been carried out. Among these varieties, in TANER and BOZKIR, yields increased by 15-20 percent compared to existing varieties planted in dry conditions thanks to their drought resis- tance and high water use efficiency. In quality terms, the increase achieved in TANER was 250 percent and 200 percent in BOZKIR. SELÇUKLU, which was transferred to TİGEM, will be offered to the market with higher efficiency and quality. The aim is to spread drought resistant varieties all over Turkey. Tarım Bakanlığı, kuraklığa dayanıklı buğday çeşitlerini yaygınlaştırıyor Bakanlık bünyesindeki TAGEM enstitülerince geliştirilen ve üretimi yapılan kuraklığa toleranslı 30 ekmeklik buğ- day, 12 makarnalık buğday ve 19 arpa çeşidi bulunuyor. Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı bünyesindeki Tarımsal Araştır- malar ve Politikalar Genel Müdürlüğü (TAGEM) enstitülerince iklim değişikliğine dayanıklı ve yüksek verimli tohum çeşit- lerinin ıslah çalışmaları sürdürülürken, tescil edilmiş türlerin ekiminin yaygınlaştırılması sağlanıyor. Bakanlık açıklamasında, bir yandan “Tarımsal Kuraklıkla Mücadele Stratejisi ve Eylem Planı”na ilişkin hazırlıklar de- vam ederken bir yandan da TAGEM bünyesinde faaliyet gösteren enstitülerce, değişen iklim ve toprak koşullarında dahi yüksek verim ve kalite elde edilmesini sağlayacak to- humlar için ıslah çalışmaları sürdürülüyor. Bu kapsamda Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüklerince kurak- lığa uyumlu 30 ekmeklik buğday, 12 makarnalık buğday ve 19 arpa çeşidi geliştirilerek üreticinin istifadesine sunuldu. Konya Bahri Dağdaş Uluslararası Tarımsal Araştırma Ens- titüsüne bağlı olarak 2010’da kurulan ve dünyada üçüncü sırada bulunan Kuraklık Test Merkezi’nde on binlerce mater- yal morfolojik, fenolojik ve fizyolojik testten geçiriliyor. Mer- kezde bugüne kadar 19 çeşit, testlerden başarıyla geçerek tescil edildi. Tescil edilen çeşitler son yıllarda özel sektöre ve TİGEM’e devredilerek tohum çoğaltma çalışmaları yapılıyor. Bu çe- şitlerden TANER ve BOZKIR’da, kuraklık dayanımı ve yük- sek su kullanım etkinliği özellikleri sayesinde kuruda ekilen mevcut çeşitlere göre verimde yüzde 15-20 artış sağlandı. Kalite açısından TANER’de elde edilen artış yüzde 250, BOZKIR’da yüzde 200 oldu. TİGEM’e devredilen SELÇUK- LU ise daha yüksek verim ve kalite özellikleriyle piyasaya sunulacak. Kuraklığa dayanıklı çeşitlerin tüm Türkiye’de yay- gınlaştırılması hedefleniyor.
