So, will the milling sector, which man- aged to maintain its market dominance even during the pan- demic period when there was a worldwide container crisis, be able to maintain this success in the coming years? To what extent do Turkish millers follow the food trends in the world and how do they adapt to the technological transfor- mation in the industry? We discussed all these issues with Haluk Tezcan, Chairman of the Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation (TFIF), the umbrella organization of the industry. Speaking to Miller Magazine after the TFIF 17th Internation- al Congress and Exhibition held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Tezcan shared crucial messages for the in- dustry. Underlining that it is not a coincidence that the title of this year’s congress is ‘Technological Transformation in Pro- duction’, Tezcan states that it is not possible for companies that cannot achieve this transformation to survive. “Those Türk un sanayicisi, 9 yıldır dünya un ihracat şampiyonluğu- nu kimseye kaptırmıyor. Uncularımız, dünyadaki gıda trendlerini ne kadar takip ediyor ve sektördeki teknolojik dö- nüşüme nasıl adapte oluyor? Tüm bu konuları, sektörün çatı kuruluşu Türkiye Un Sanayicileri Federasyonu’nun (TUSAF) Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Haluk Tezcan ile konuştuk. “Üretimde Teknolojik Dönüşümler ve Küresel Riskler” tema- sıyla KKTC’de düzenlenen TUSAF 17. Uluslararası Kongre ve Sergisi’nin ardından Değirmenci’ye konuşan Tezcan, sektör için önemli mesajlar verdi. Bu yılki kongrenin başlığının, ‘Üre- timde Teknolojik Dönüşüm’ olmasının tesadüf olmadığının altı- nı çizen Tezcan, bu dönüşümü gerçekleştiremeyen şirketlerin ayakta kalmasının mümkün olmadığını belirtiyor. “Değişime ayak uyduramayanlar maalesef küme düşüyor.” uyarısını ya- “If we cannot achieve technological transformation in the Turkish milling sector, we will not be able to remain at the helm of our companies. Those who cannot keep up with the change will, unfortunately, be left behind. Those who adapt to it will come to much better positions. We should both adjust to the developing technolo- gies and closely follow the trends in the world and take action accordingly. The Turkish milling sector, which has so many success stories, cannot stay out of these trends. “Eğer biz, sektörde teknolojik dönüşümü gerçekleştiremezsek, şirketlerimizin başında kalamayız. Değişime ayak uyduramayanlar maalesef küme düşüyor. Buna ayak uyduranlar ise çok daha iyi yerlere geliyor. Biz hem gelişen teknolojiye uyum sağlamalı hem de dünyadaki trendleri yakından takip edip aksiyon almalıyız.
