BBM • AUGUST - AĞUSTOS 2023 25 Dr. Eren Günhan Ulusoy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ulusoy Flour and Söke Flour, spoke about the termination of the Grain Corridor Agreement, which was signed to enable Ukraine and Russia to deliver their grains and other food products to the world markets via the Black Sea, and asked, “The Grain Corridor has ended. What will happen now?” In his statement, Ulusoy gave the following information: “We have been following the continuation of the agreement until now. As it neared its end on July 17, we were also expecting the continuation of the agreement. The agreement had a signifi- cant impact on balancing global grain prices, especially in the ear- ly stages. But as we delved into the details of the shipments made under the agreement, we observed that the shipments were slowing down day by day and operations were especially slowed down in recent periods. Since the corridor had nearly come to a standstill due to the slowdowns, the market had already reflected this in its pricing for a while. Looking at the timing, it is harvest time in the Northern Hemi- sphere. Many countries have secured their internal supplies for this period. Production and consumption are being observed to be close to each other this year. Therefore, in the short term, that is until the next harvest season from the 2023-2024 season, we do not see the closure of the corridor as a major threat. In the long term, some countries may experience access problems due to shocks related to supply and price caused by increasing prices if production in Ukraine cannot reach other countries. Global climate change, which is a long-term problem, is not ex- pected to impact prices in the short term in a very negative way. However, we believe that drought and global climate change will pose a serious problem over the next decade or so.” “We don’t consider the halt of the Grain Corridor a significant menace” Following the termination of the Grain Corridor Agree- ment, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ulu- soy Flour, Günhan Ulusoy, stated that they do not see the closure of the corridor as a major threat. “Tahıl koridorunun kapanmasını büyük bir tehdit olarak görmüyoruz” Tahıl Koridoru Anlaşması’nın durdurulmasının ardından açıklamalarda bulunan Ulusoy Un Yönetim Kurulu Baş- kanı Günhan Ulusoy, koridorun kapanmasını büyük bir tehdit olarak görmediklerini söyledi. Ukrayna ve Rusya’nın tahıl ve diğer gıda ürünlerini Karade- niz üzerinden dünya pazarlarına ulaştırabilmesi için imzalanan Tahıl Koridoru Anlaşması’nın durdurulmasıyla ilgili açıklama yapan Ulusoy Un ve Söke Un Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Dr. Eren Günhan Ulusoy, “Tahıl Koridoru sona erdi. Şimdi ne olacak?” diye sordu. Ulusoy yaptığı açıklamada şu bilgilere yer verdi: “Bugüne kadar anlaşmanın devam etmesini takip ettik. 17 Temmuz’da sona gelmesine yakın da anlaşmanın devamının gelmesini bekliyorduk. Anlaşma özellikle başlarda dünya tahıl fiyatlarının dengeye gelmesinde önemli etkiye sahipti. Ama anlaşmanın kapsamında yapılan sevkiyatların detayına indi- ğimizde her geçen gün sevkiyatların yavaşladığını, özellikle son donemde operasyonların yavaşlatıldığını gözlemledik. Yavaşlamalar ile koridor fiilen durma noktasına neredeyse ulaştığı için piyasa bunu fiyatlandırmalara bir suredir yansıtmış durumdaydı. Zamanlama olarak baktığımızda ise kuzey yarım kürede hasat zamanı. Pek çok ülke kendi, iç tedarikini şu dönem için sağladı. Bu senenin üretim ile tüketimi birbirine yakın olarak iz- leniyor. Dolayısıyla kısa vadede yani 2023-2024 sezonundan bir sonraki hasat dönemine kadar koridorun kapanmasını bü- yük bir tehdit olarak görmüyoruz. Uzun vadede Ukrayna’daki üretimin diğer ülkelere ulaşamaması durumunda artacak fiyat- lar nedeniyle arz ve fiyatla ilgili şoklardan dolayı bazı ülkeler erişim sorunu yaşayabilirler. Uzun vadeli sorunlardan olan küresel iklim değişikliği ise fiyatlara kısa dönemde çok ters bir şekilde yansımasını bekle- miyoruz. Ama kuraklık ve küresel iklim değişikliği önümüzdeki 10 yıl gibi sürede ciddi problem teşkil edeceğini düşünüyoruz.” NEWS HABER
