editör editor Dear readers, We are with you in our 83rd issue. Food security has become an increasingly important issue, influenced by economic, social, and environmental processes. Growing populations, urbanization, climate change, and water scarcity are forcing the transformation of food systems. In this context, establishing a sustainable food system is critical to ensuring the future generations’ access to safe and adequate food. Efficient and optimal use of natural resources is one of the cornerstones of food security. Agricultural production planning should determine which products will be produced and in what quantities. Protecting food security for strategic products and identifying production targets suitable for national needs are critical steps for effective management of the process. Financial support and incentives are other key elements in ensuring food security. Agricultural subsidies, low-interest loans, and rural development grants not only alleviate the financial burdens of producers but also encourage the adoption of sustainable production methods. Especially, contract farming practices provide an opportunity to create a more balanced system between producers and consumers. Implementing sustainability at every stage of the food chain is not only an economic necessity but also an environmental and social imperative. It should not be forgotten that food production is not just a consumption process, but one of the fundamental elements of public health and economic prosperity. Despite scarce resources and the pressures created by the climate crisis, transforming food systems into fair, efficient, and environmentally friendly structures is essential to building secure food systems for the future. This transformation can only be achieved with a common vision and strategy shaped by all stakeholders. From public institutions to the private sector, academia to individuals, everyone must act with an awareness of their responsibilities, contributing to the protection of food access for both current and future generations. We hope to meet you in our next issue... Değerli okurlar, 83’üncü sayımızla birlikteyiz. Gıda arz güvenliği, ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel süreçlerin etkisiyle giderek daha önemli bir konu haline geldi. Artan nüfus, kentleşme, iklim değişikliği ve su kaynaklarındaki kısıtlar, gıda sistemlerinin dönüşümünü zorunlu kılıyor. Bu kapsamda, sürdürülebilir bir gıda sistemi oluşturmak, gelecek nesillerin güvenli ve yeterli gıdaya erişimini sağlamak için kritik önem arz ediyor. Doğal kaynakların verimli ve optimum kullanımı, gıda arz güvenliğinin temel taşlarından biridir. Tarımsal üretim planlamasıyla hangi ürünlerin ne kadar üretileceğinin belirlenmesi sağlamalı. Stratejik ürünlerde arz güvenliğinin korunması ve ülke ihtiyaçlarına uygun üretim hedeflerinin tespiti, sürecin etkin yönetilmesi için kritik adımlar. Finansman desteği ve teşvikler, gıda arz güvenliğinin sağlanmasında bir diğer önemli unsurdur. Tarımsal desteklemeler, düşük faizli krediler ve kırsal kalkınma hibeleri, üreticilerin finansal yüklerini hafifletirken aynı zamanda sürdürülebilir üretim yöntemlerinin benimsenmesini teşvike eder. Özellikle sözleşmeli tarım uygulamaları, üreticiler ve tüketiciler arasında daha dengeli bir sistem oluşturulmasına imkan tanıyor. Gıda zincirinin her aşamasında sürdürülebilirliğin hayata geçirilmesi, sadece ekonomik bir gereklilik değil, aynı zamanda çevresel ve toplumsal bir zorunluluktur. Gıda üretiminin sadece bir tüketim süreci olmadığı, toplumsal sağlığın ve ekonomik refahın temel unsurlarından biri olduğu unutulmamalıdır. Kısıtlı kaynaklara ve iklim krizinin yarattığı baskılara rağmen, gıda sistemlerinin adil, etkin ve çevre dostu bir yapıya kavuşturulması, geleceğin güvenli gıda sistemlerinin oluşturulması için şarttır. Bu dönüşüm, tüm paydaşların şekillendirdiği ortak bir vizyon ve stratejiyle mümkün olabilir. Kamu kurumlarından özel sektöre, akademiden bireylere kadar herkesin üzerine düşen sorumluluğun farkında olarak hareket etmesi, hem mevcut neslin hem de gelecekteki nesillerin gıdaya erişim hakkının korunmasına katkı sağlayacaktır.
