A look at Egyptian history reveals how in- fluential seers were in governance and decision-making. Pharaoh King Djoser once had a dream and sought its in- terpretation from the seers of his time. However, they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. This indecision signifi- cantly affected Egypt’s administration. At the time, Joseph (Prophet Yusuf), who was imprisoned, interpreted the dream for the king. According to Joseph, Egypt would experience seven years of abundance followed by seven years of fam- ine. As the story goes, Egypt survived the famine by stock- piling wheat during the years of abundance. Today, many people still attempt to predict the future through fortune-telling, dream interpretation, or by observ- ing the positions of stars. Economists and statisticians, on the other hand, rely on historical data and certain assump- tions to make economic forecasts. Economists constantly compete to make the most accurate and impactful predic- tions. George Soros, often referred to as the wizard of mon- ey, emphasizes the importance of accurate forecasting in Can Artificial Intelligence Predict Wheat Prices? The desire to foresee the future is as old as humanity itself. Today, that desire is being reshaped by arti- ficial intelligence and its immense data-processing power. From agriculture to financial markets, this new technology holds the potential to transform decision-making—but it also raises profound ques- tions: Can AI truly know the future, and if so, will that knowledge be accessible to all? Yapay zeka buğday fiyatlarını tahmin edebilir mi? Geleceği öngörme arzusu insanlık tarihi kadar eski. Bugün bu arzu, yapay zekânın bilgi işleme kapasitesiy- le bambaşka bir boyuta taşınıyor. Tarımsal üretimden finansal piyasalara kadar pek çok alanda karar alma süreçlerini dönüştürme potansiyeline sahip bu yeni teknoloji, hem heyecan veriyor hem de derin soruları beraberinde getiriyor: Yapay zekâ gerçekten geleceği bilebilir mi ve bu bilgi herkese açık mı olacak? İnsan kendini bildi bileli geleceği tahmin etmek istemiştir. Mısır tarihi incelendiğinde kahinlerin devlet yönetiminde ve kararlarında ne kadar etkili olduğunu biliyoruz. Mısır hüküm- darı firavun King Djoser gece uykusunda bir rüya görür ve gördüğü rüyayı o dönemin kahinlerinin yorumlanmasını ister. Kahinler kralın gördüğü rüyayı tatmin edici yorumlamakta an- laşamazlar. Bu durum, Mısır’ın yönetiminde büyük etkisi olur. O dönemde zindanda cezasını çeken Hz. Yusuf, kralın rüyasını yorumlar. Hz. Yusuf’a göre ülkede 7 yıl bolluk, 7 yıl kıtlık ya- şanacaktır. Mısırda yaşanan hikayeye göre bolluk döneminde buğday stoklanarak kıtlık döneminde varlığını sürdürebilmiştir. Günümüzde birçok insan geleceğini fal bakarak, gördüğü rüyaları yorumlayarak veya yıldızların konumuna bakarak tah- min etmek istemektedir. İktisatçılar ve İstatistikçiler belli datalar kullanarak geçmiş verilerden yola çıkarak ve bazı varsayımlar ile ekonomik tahminler yapmaktadırlar. Ekonomistler en san- sasyonel ve doğru tahmin edebilmenin rekabeti içindedirler. Paranın sihirbazı olarak görülen emperyal büyücü George So- ros finansal piyasalar için “Yeni Paradigma” kitabında geleceği doğru tahmin etmenin önemini anlatmaktadır.
