BBM • MARCH - MART 2023 26 NEWS HABER Ahmet Güldal, General Manager of Turkish Grain Board (TMO), pointed out that there is a meteorological drought due to climatic reasons beyond their control, but the risk of drought will disappear with the expected precipitation in the coming months. “We have no famine but a meteorological drought. There is no situation for the consumer to worry or cause a lack of supply,” he said. Güldal made evaluations about TMO’s activities and their expectations in 2023. Drawing attention to the fact that a drought is the global agenda, Güldal said, “There was snow- fall in this period in 2022. However, we got the main yield from April showers. This means that we still have hope. The precipitations in February, March and April are vital to us. I can easily say that stocks have been carried over from 2022 all over the world, especially for cereals. Thus, we have no shortage. There is no problem to cause a lack of supply.” Reminding that the Turkish Grain Board has created a strong inventory by purchasing crops from the domestic market, Güldal said, “We have been in the field since June. We have inaugurated nearly 500 buying points. Our staff worked with all their efforts day and night, without a week- end break. The prices we have announced are still the best on the market. This made the farmer very happy with a lot of positive feedback given to us. We made the highest pur- chase in the last 25 years.” Responding to the allegations that the Turkish Grain Board does not have sufficient inventory, Güldal said, “As TMO, one of our goals is to provide security of supply and to protect our inventory strategically. Also, to ensure that the market is balanced until the next harvest. We, TMO, had a very good purchasing period and our inventory is full. Tüketiciyi endişelendirecek, arz eksikliği meydana getirecek bir durum söz konusu değil” dedi. Güldal, TMO’nun faaliyetleri ve 2023 beklentilerine iliş- kin değerlendirmelerde bulundu. Dünyadaki gündemin kuraklık olmasına dikkat çeken Güldal, “2022 yılında bu dönemde kar yağışı vardı. Ancak biz asıl verimi nisan ayın- daki yağışlardan aldık. Bu da demek oluyor ki ümidimiz var. Şubat, mart ve nisan ayındaki yağışlar bizim için önemli. Şunu rahatlıkla söyleyebilirim özellikle hububat için tüm dünyada 2022 yılından stoklar devretti; dolayısıyla bir kıtlık yok. Arz eksikliği meydana getirecek bir sıkıntı söz konusu değil.” dedi. Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisinin iç piyasadan ürün alarak güçlü bir stok oluşturduğunu vurgulayan Güldal, “Haziran ayından itibaren biz sahadaydık. 500’e yakın alım noktası açtık. Per- sonelimiz gece gündüz demeden, hafta sonu tatili yapma- dan tüm gayretiyle çalıştı. Açıklamış olduğumuz fiyatlar hâlâ piyasadaki en iyi fiyatlar. Bu üreticimizi ziyadesiyle memnun etti ve olumlu anlamda çok fazla geri dönüş aldık. Son 25 yılın en yüksek alımını gerçekleştirdik.” şeklinde konuştu. Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisinin elinde yeterli stok olmadığa dair çıkan söylentilere karşılık Güldal “TMO olarak amaçları- mızdan biri arz güvenliği sağlamak, stratejik olarak stokları- mızı korumak. Ayrıca piyasanın da bir sonraki hasada kadar dengeli gitmesini sağlamak. TMO olarak çok güzel bir alım dönemi geçirdik ve stoklarımız dolu. Bu nedenle diyebiliriz ki gıda arzında hiçbir sıkıntımız yok.” şeklinde cevap verdi. Ahmet Güldal
