Stating that the duty of the organization is limited to the products in its field of activity, Güldal said that TMO has taken an active role in other areas where it is needed with the as- signment of the state. Güldal continued his speech as fol- lows: “During the pandemic, when there were disruptions in logistics in the world, there were limitations in access to food. When there were restrictions, one of the few institutions as- signed by the state was TMO, that is, us. We were given the task of supplying flour, pasta, rice and other basic foodstuffs. We have tried to fulfill the duties assigned to us in order to ensure that production, trade and retail sales are not dis- rupted and that the consumer does not suffer any problems.” Güldal said, “In the last few years, we have always been asked; what position will TMO take, what kind of method will TMO determine? TMO’s decisions and positions are also ef- fective in grain policies in the world. They follow us and we follow them. What is produced, how much is traded, how much is sold and how much is consumed in which country in relation to all products in our field of duty in the world of cereals and pulses? Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi (TMO)Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı ve Genel Müdürü Ahmet Güldal, göreve yeni başlayan persone- le verilen Hizmet İçi Eğitim Planı gereğince düzenlenen TMO İşe Alıştırma Eğitimi’nde konuştu. Kurumun görevinin, faaliyet alanındaki ürünlerle sınırlı ol- duğunu aktaran Güldal, hükümetimizin görevlendirmesi ile TMO’nun ihtiyaç duyulan diğer alanlarda da aktif rol aldığını söyledi. Güldal, konuşmasına şöyle devam etti: “Salgın hasta- lık döneminde dünyada lojistikte aksamalar olunca gıdaya eri- şimde sınırlamalar meydana geldi. Kısıtlama olunca devletin en başta görev verdiği birkaç kurumdan bir tanesi TMO, yani biz olduk. Başta un, makarna, pirinç ve diğer temel gıda mad- deleri noktasında bize tedarik görevi verildi. Üretimin, ticare- tin ve perakende satışların aksamaması tüketicinin her hangi bir mağduriyet yaşamaması noktasında bize verilen görevleri hakkıyla ifa etmeye çalıştık.” Güldal, “Son birkaç yıldır, özellikle bize hep şunu sorarlar; TMO nasıl bir pozisyon alacak, nasıl bir yöntem belirleyecek? Dünyadaki hububat politikalarında TMO’nun kararları, almış olduğu pozisyonlar da etkili oluyor. Onlar bizi takip ediyor, biz de onları takip ediyoruz. Dünyadaki hububat, bakliyat bizim görev alanımızdaki tüm ürünlerle ilgili hangi ülkede ne üretili- yor, ne kadar ticareti yapılıyor, ne kadar satılıyor ve ne kadarı tüketiliyor? Bunları yakından takip ediyoruz” dedi.
