Paper-based films are also suitable for the circular economy, provided that laminated or dispersed barrier coatings comply with certain limit values – and are therefore not an obstacle to recycling. But being recyclable does not mean that the two materi- als can be used indiscriminately. On the contrary, they are fundamentally different: anyone wishing to use them strate- gically and in an environmentally sound manner needs to consider not only the applicable regulations but also prod- ucts, packaging styles and processes, so that each material can be used to its full potential. The barrier benefits of mono-polymers A single type of plastic instead of many: mono-films are increasingly making a name for themselves. And for good reason, as they can achieve what was long considered im- possible: returning plastic to the cycle almost entirely. As flow-wrapped or stand-up pouches, mono-materials now protect a remarkable range of sensitive consumer goods – from chocolate bars to coffee or a portion of peanuts. This is achieved through the clever combination of carrier ma- terials such as PP or PET and small amounts of barrier sub- stances such as ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH). For example, mono-polymers reliably keep water vapour, oxygen and UV rays from penetrating. They are easy to process and, thanks to their high flexibility, are suitable for a variety of packaging styles. pozit filmlerle hiçbir ortak yönleri bulunmuyor. Mono-polimerlerin bariyer avantajları Birçok plastik türü yerine tek bir tür: Mono-filmler giderek daha fazla öne çıkıyor. Bunun haklı bir nedeni var; çünkü uzun süre imkansız kabul edilen bir şeyi başarabiliyor, plastiği ne- redeyse bütünüyle döngüye geri kazandırabiliyorlar. Mono- malzemeler bugün flowpack veya dik duran poşet formatın- da, çikolatadan kahveye ve bir porsiyon yer fıstığına kadar dikkat çekici çeşitlilikteki hassas tüketici ürünlerini koruyor. Bu, PP veya PET gibi taşıyıcı malzemelerin etilen-vinil alkol kopolimeri (EVOH) gibi az miktardaki bariyer maddeleriyle akıllıca bir araya getirilmesi sayesinde mümkün oluyor. Ör- neğin mono-polimerler; su buharı, oksijen ve UV ışınlarının nüfuz etmesini güvenilir biçimde önlüyor. Kolay işlenmeleri ve yüksek esneklikleri sayesinde çeşitli ambalaj biçimlerine uygunluk sağlıyorlar.
