BBM • DECEMBER - ARALIK 2023 62 The Basque Culinary World Prize is a special global award presented by the Basque Government as part of the compre- hensive strategy of Euskadi-Basque Country and the Basque Culinary Center, a leading academic institution in the field of gastronomy. Distinguishing itself from similar awards, this prize specifically focuses on and rewards the efforts of chefs who lead transformative initiatives in areas such as innovation, technology, education, environment, health, the food industry, social, and economic development. During the ceremony attended by officials and prominent figures from the Basque food sector, Arantxa Tapia, Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability, and Environment of the Basque Government, not only presented Ebru Baybara Demir with the award but also offered a €100,000 prize. The financial award of 100,000 euros is meant for new projects that benefit so- ciety. Prior to the award presentation, Joan Roca, President of the Ebru Baybara Demir, a Turkish chef, achieved significant suc- cess in the world of gastronomy by receiving the Basque Cu- linary World Prize 2023, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of gastronomy. She was honored with this award for her no- table contributions to gastronomy in the areas of cultural inte- gration, social development, and biodiversity through her cu- linary expertise. This award is recognized as one of the most prestigious accolades in the culinary world, highlighting and acknowledging impactful contributions within the industry. Türk şef Ebru Baybara Demir, gastronomi dünyasının Nobel’i olarak adlandırılan Dünyasının Basque Cu- linary World Prize 2023 ödülünü San Sebastian’da düzenlenen özel bir törenle aldı. Baybara Demir, mutfaktaki uzmanlığı aracılığıyla kültürel entegrasyon, sosyal kalkınma ve biyolojik çeşitlilik alanlarında gast- ronomiye yaptığı önemli katkılardan dolayı bu ödüle layık görüldü. Basque Culinary World Prize, Euskadi-Bask Ülkesi’nin ve gastronomi alanında önde gelen bir akademik kurum olan Basque Culinary Center’ın kapsamlı stratejisinin bir parça- sı olarak Bask Hükümeti tarafından verilen özel bir küresel ödüldür. Ödül, benzerlerinden farklı olarak inovasyon, tekno- loji, eğitim, çevre, sağlık, gıda endüstrisi, sosyal ve ekonomik kalkınma alanlarında dönüştürücü girişimlere liderlik eden şeflerin çalışmalarına odaklanıyor ve bu alandaki başarıları ödüllendiriyor. Bask Hükümeti Ekonomik Kalkınma, Sürdürülebilirlik ve Çevre Bakanı Arantxa Tapia, Bask gıda sektöründen yetki- lilerin ve önde gelen isimlerin katıldığı törende Ebru Bayba- ra Demir’e ödülünün yanı sıra, topluma fayda sağlayan yeni projelerinde kullanılmak üzere 100 bin avro değerindeki ödülü de takdim etti.
