Today, climate change has become the defining force shaping the future of food. In this issue, under the headline “Sustainable Food Security in a Changing Climate,” we explore how this profound transformation is reshaping both production and consumption. Food security is no longer defined merely by supply and demand—it is now reframed through climate policy, resource management, and producer support. It is within this context that the recent announcement by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) regarding the 2025 wheat and barley procurement prices stands out as a noteworthy development. With a base price of 13,500 TL per ton for wheat and total re- turns of 16,020 TL per ton when subsidies are included, this over 45% increase from last year serves both as a response to rising production costs and as a reassurance to farmers. TMO’s plan to procure crops at over 600 locations across the country, along with prompt payments, also plays a stabilizing role in the market. Decisions made today will shape the food systems of tomor- row. Prices, subsidies, production methods, and climate policies must be considered as a whole. Because food security is no longer just a matter of agriculture—it has become a matter of climate, economics, and sustainability. Just as the farmer’s labor is crucial, so too are the strategic decisions that shape our shared future. However, we must remember that sustainability cannot be achieved through pricing policies alone—it requires fundamental changes in production models. In this issue, we also examine markets like Mexico and Russia, where traditional agricultural practices are being integrated with digital farming solutions in response to climate challenges. These countries are not only focused on export targets but are also working to ensure do- mestic food security through climate-aligned strategies. Hope to meet you in our next issue… Değerli okurlarımız, 89’ncu sayımızla birlikteyiz. Tarım, tarih boyunca insanlıkla birlikte iklimin izinden yürüdü. Bugün ise iklim değişikliği, gıdanın geleceğini belirleyen temel dinamik haline geldi. Bu sayıda “Deği- şen İklimde Sürdürülebilir Gıda Güvenliği” başlığı altında hem üretimi hem de tüketimi şekillendiren bu büyük dö- nüşümün izlerini sürüyoruz. Gıda güvencesi artık sadece arz ve talep dengesiyle değil, iklim politikaları, kaynak yönetimi ve üretici destekleriyle de yeniden tanımlanıyor. İşte bu noktada, Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi (TMO) tara- fından açıklanan 2025 yılı buğday ve arpa alım fiyatları dikkat çekici bir gelişme olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. Ton başına 13.500 TL olarak belirlenen buğday alım fiyatı, desteklerle birlikte üreticinin eline 16.020 TL geçmesini sağlayacak. Geçen yıla kıyasla %45’i aşan bu artış, hem üretim maliyetlerindeki yükselişe bir yanıt hem de çiftçiye verilen bir güvence niteliğinde. TMO’nun 600’ü aşkın noktada gerçekleştireceği alımlar ve hızlı ödeme vaadi, piyasa istikrarı açısından da önemli bir adım. Bugün alınan kararlar, yarının gıda zincirini belirliyor. Fiyatlar, destekler, üretim biçimleri ve iklim politikaları bir bütün olarak ele alınmak zorunda. Çünkü gıda güvenliği artık yalnızca bir tarım meselesi değil; bir iklim, ekonomi ve sürdürülebilirlik meselesi. Üreticinin emeği kadar, alınan her stratejik karar da bu geleceğin şekillenmesin- de belirleyici. Ancak unutmamalıyız: sürdürülebilirlik yalnızca fiyat politikalarıyla değil, üretim modelleriyle sağlanabilir. Bu sayımızda incelediğimiz Meksika ve Rusya gibi ülkeler, iklim değişikliği karşısında hem geleneksel üretim tek- niklerini hem de dijital tarım uygulamalarını nasıl entegre ettiklerini gösteriyor. Her iki pazar da bir yandan ihracat hedeflerine odaklanırken, diğer yandan iç tüketim güven- liğini iklimle uyumlu politikalarla sağlamaya çalışıyor.
