A record 364% surge in demand for pita flour

Eksun Gıda shared striking data on flour consumption habits during the month of Ramadan. According to the company, overall flour demand increased by 25% during Ramadan, while demand for pita flour surged by 364% compared to the monthly average of other months.

Eksun Gıda announced its flour consumption data for Ramadan. While demand for pita flour rose by 364% compared to the average of other months, overall flour demand increased by 25%. Sales during Ramadan accounted for 65% of the total pita flour demand recorded throughout the previous year. As demand for pita flour reached remarkable levels during Ramadan, the company reorganized its production and logistics operations in line with this intensity and stated that it successfully met all incoming orders.

RAMADAN PITA: AN ESSENTIAL OF IFTAR TABLES

Emphasizing that pita bread is an indispensable part of iftar tables, Hasan Abdullah Özkan, Chairman and CEO of Eksun Gıda Group, said: “We experienced a record increase in demand for pita flour this year. With our strong production infrastructure and extensive distribution network, we successfully managed all incoming orders. As a company, we carried out special strategic planning in advance to meet the surge in demand during Ramadan. At our factories in Konya and Tekirdağ, we completed the necessary preparations on our production lines in line with the capacity increase. We then reorganized our factory work schedules accordingly. As in every Ramadan, we are delighted to take our place on iftar and sahur tables this year with both Eksun Gıda and our Sinangil brand.”

According to company data, the provinces where demand for pita flour was most intense during Ramadan have also been identified. The top five provinces stood out as Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli, Bursa, and Tekirdağ. These cities, which rank among Türkiye’s largest metropolitan areas, are distinguished not only by their populations but also by their strong baking culture.
