The major cause of global warming, the greatest problem of our time, which entered our lives with the Industrial Revolution and is now called the climate crisis, is widely regarded as the increase in carbon and greenhouse gas emissions. The accelerated destruction and consumption of natural resources that began about 300 years ago with the Industrial Revolution, the effects of which we focus more on. So much so that today we consume 1.5 worlds faster than in the past.

The widespread degradation of air, water, and soil resources, alongside climate change and unequal access to clean food, has thrust the concept of sustainability into the limelight. This growing awareness has spurred action and the implementation of measures to address these pressing issues.

WE ARE WORKING FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION
OF NATURE’S BALANCE
In addition to the measures taken by individuals to restore the disturbed balance, industries also need to implement their efforts for the environment and clean and healthy food along with economic development. Novozymes, one of the companies taking major steps to restore what we have taken from nature, focuses on sustainability and offers nature and science-based solutions to the urgent needs of the world.

A subsidiary of Novozymes A/S, the company has been operating in Turkey for 25 years and continues to increase its service network and solution capacity by improving its capabilities to contribute to the local industry and economy and to serve its customers with customized solutions.
With science-based biosolutions offered by Novozymes, we have supported the mitigation of carbon emissions from 40 industries such as household cleaning products, human health, leather and textiles, bioenergy, water and water waste, food and agriculture, making production more efficient. With solutions that prevent food waste, we have enabled more efficient use of the world’s limited resources.

FOOD WASTE INCREASES CARBON FOOTPRINT
The global annual carbon footprint of food waste and loss is estimated at 3.3 billion tons, and 61 percent of food waste originates in our kitchens. For example, more than 20 percent of people say that when bread is dry, they throw it away, even if it is not expired. Thanks to the enzymes produced by Novozymes, including at its Technology and Innovation Center in Istanbul, which keep bread fresher for longer, an estimated 80 billion loaves of bread have been prevented from going to waste and 45 million tons of carbon dioxide have been avoided over nearly 30 years. Novozymes prevents millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions from production, consumption or waste thanks to the productivity, efficiency and proper use of resources it provides with the enzymes it produces in different sectors.

We work in Türkiye because we believe in the strength of our country and we want to be able to offer customized solutions to the needs of our producers here by supporting their production from local to global. We create our innovations by understanding the geography we are in and creating customized solutions. We are working to shape the future of the world and our country by utilizing the power and potential of nature. Through the science behind our working philosophy and solutions, we call on industries and consumers to rethink our future. We support and encourage them with our solutions to take progressive steps for our common future.
