Flowers Foods, Inc., announced it has completed the acquisition of Papa Pita Bakery, a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality bagels, tortillas, breads, buns, English muffins, and flat breads.

Papa Pita Bakery will operate as an independent subsidiary of Flowers.

"Papa Pita has been an important co-manufacturer of Flowers products for many years, and we expect the acquisition to drive further manufacturing and distribution synergies," said Ryals McMullian, president and CEO, Flowers Foods. "We're looking forward to welcoming the passionate Papa Pita team to Flowers."

Papa Pita will remain in its Utah facility, allowing Flowers to expand its foothold in the Western US. Flowers will fund the acquisition with cash-on-hand and existing credit facilities, the company said.

Headquartered in Thomasville, Ga., Flowers Foods, Inc. is one of the largest producers of packaged bakery foods in the United States with 2022 sales of $4.8 billion. Flowers operates bakeries across the country that produce a wide range of bakery products. Among the company's top brands are Nature's Own, Dave's Killer Bread, Wonder, Canyon Bakehouse, and Tastykake.
