Bekir Pakdemirli is assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a ministry constituted through unifying two ministries in the Presidency System.
Bekir Pakdemirli (45) became the new Minister of Agriculture and Forestry that is constituted for the presidency system in Turkey. He took over the portfolio from Veysel Eroğlu, the former from Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs and Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba, the former minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. Pakdemirli extended his thanks to President Erdoğan for deeming him suitable of this post.
Bekir Pakdemirli said that he learned that he would become a minister on Monday. He said, “If you are summoned to the Presidency Complex on that Sunday, you would think that you are becoming a minister but you may still not know which one. I am a pilot. Thus, I thought it may be Transport. When Mr. Erdoğan said it is about agriculture, I said, ‘Your wish is my command.’”
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pekdemirli who is currently holding the board membership of BİM, Turkcell, and Albaraka is also known as the son of Ekrem Pakdemirli, one of the former prime ministers. Pakdemirli who is born in 1973 in Izmir, graduated from the Business Administration Department of Bilkent University. After that, he completed his post-graduate education at Business Administration, Başkent University and doctorate education at Economics Department, Celal Bayar University. He has an experience as a self-employed entrepreneur in the fields of food, agriculture, technology, and automotive. He has taken an active role in the establishment and management of various companies. Captainship, piloting, and amateur wiremanship are among his hobbies.
