UNO prepares to open five more production facilities

As the leader of health, freshness and innovation; UNO will open five more production facilities with 90 million-dollar investment in two years. The aim of UNO with its new investments is to be one of the largest food companies with 1 billion-lira endorsement in 2018. The growing goals of UNO will get strength with its increasing cooperation with Yildiz Holding.
Producing its 300 millionth bread in 2011 in Turkish bakery products market with a value of 30 billion liras, UNO continues to be Turkey’s leader packaged bread brand with 65% market share. Projecting to close 2013 with 310 million-lira endorsement by growing 55%; the company pressed the button for new investments. UNO, which will make 90 million-dollar new investments until 2015, will establish five more production facilities in order to meet the increasing demand in packaged bread market. The first facility of UNO outside of Istanbul and Ankara will start its activities in Izmir. UNO closed 2012 with 201 million-lira endorsement.
The press conference, in which the details about the new period projects of UNO were shared, was realized in Istanbul on 13th November Wednesday with the participation of Yildiz Holding Head of Financial Services Dr. Cem Karakas, UNO Managing Partner and CEO Federico Caruncho and UNO Chairman of the Board Hasip Gencer. Telling the food vision of Yildiz Holding and their aims for UNO, Yildiz Holding Head of Financial Services Dr. Cem Karakas said; “As Yildiz Holding, we realized our first investment for UNO in 2008. In the next five years, we were glad with the investment and UNO became a strategic business for us. Thus we decided to grow the company faster by being partners with Federico Caruncho. At this point, Federico Caruncho became the head of the company as UNO’s managing partner. We transferred our majority shares of Komsufirin to Hasip Gencer.”

Pointing the high annual consumption rates of bread and bakery products per capita in Turkey, UNO Managing Partner Federico Caruncho said; “Turkey is one of the countries with largest bread and bakery product consumption in the world. However; packaged bread market only constitutes 1% of the Turkish bread market. This rate is around 75% in Northern Europe, while it is around 15% in Southern Europe which resembles to Turkey more in terms of the climate, life style and eating habits. UNO’s aim is to increase these figures to 7% level in the near future in a market like in Turkey where bread is consumed much more than Europe average. We will continue to our investments and activities in this direction.”

MORE FACILITIES
Producing 65 thousand tons of bread annually, UNO still makes production in total three facilities two of which are in Dudullu and Ikitelli Istanbul and one of which is in Ankara. The company prepares the construction of the new production facilities in different regions of Turkey in the next two years. The first part of the new facilities will be realized on fresh product category in Izmir in 2014. In May 2014, 35 million-dollar frozen product facility will be taken into operation in Dudullu. In 2015; it is aimed to open two new facilities on fresh product category in Antalya and Eastern Black Sea region and an additional facility on frozen product category in Mediterranean region.
