Angel Yeast, a global manufacturer of yeast
and fermentation solutions, has begun trial production at its newly built
specialty yeast facility located in the Baiyang Biotechnology Park within China’s
Yichang High-tech Zone. Once fully operational, the facility will reach an
annual production capacity of 8,500 tons.
This investment enables Angel Yeast to establish a fully integrated production chain for specialty yeast—spanning R&D, pilot-scale production, and industrial-scale manufacturing. It will enhance the company’s ability to supply yeast and yeast-derived ingredients to high value-added markets such as craft brewing, wine production, and biofuels.

The core production lines are equipped with full-process automation, covering raw material feeding, fermentation, packaging, and storage. This infrastructure ensures stable and reproducible quality in large-scale manufacturing.
In parallel with the new production line, the company has also commissioned its Industrial Functional Microorganism Pilot Test Platform. Designed to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and industrialized manufacturing, the platform simulates real production environments and accelerates technical verification with data-driven results—before entering actual factory operations.
Luo Xinjie, Director of Brewing Technical Support at Angel Yeast’s Food and Fermentation Business Unit, highlighted the platform’s advantages: “Thanks to real-time monitoring systems, we can track microbial behavior and changes in flavor compounds under factory-like conditions. This translates into higher precision in quality assessment and faster R&D cycles.”
Together, the new 8,500-ton facility and the pilot platform mark a significant milestone in Angel Yeast’s vision for global biomanufacturing and brewing innovation.
