Istanbul Public Bread Inc. (İHE) GM Okan Gedik and Deputy GM Berna Gönenli visited Erdoğan Çetin, who was re-elected as the President of the Istanbul Chamber of Bakers last month.
President of the Istanbul Chamber of Bakers, Erdoğan Çetin, made statements regarding the visit on his social media account: “We had a conversation with the General Manager on many issues related to our profession. We agreed that the high costs recently experienced in bread production are within the same framework in the sector, that the costs have increased at the same rate both for the public bread and our tradesmen, and that the bread price policy should be sustainable for the businesses to survive."
Çetin stated that they expressed their request to Okan Gedik, the General Manager of Halk Ekmek AŞ (İHE), that the location of the public bread kiosks is at a certain distance from the bakery shops, and stated that this situation sometimes causes grievances for the bakers who are small tradesmen.
"Although the normal bread we offer to people in our bakeries and the bread offered by İHE is subject to similar costs to a certain extent, the price gap between makes our colleagues suffer so we demanded that İHE update its price policy. We also brought up many similar issues. On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I would like to thank Mr. Okan Gedik, the General Manager, and Berna Gönenli, the Deputy General Manager, for their kind visits,” Çetin said.
