Barry Callebaut Turkey makes production with renewable energy

Continuing to supply its entire electricity consumption for the year from renewable energy sources, Barry Callebaut Turkey was awarded an International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) this year, too.

Barry Callebaut Turkey, the Turkish business of the world's leading producer of chocolate and cocoa products, puts sustainability at the center of its business. Working to make its entire production sustainable with the strategy of “Forever Chocolate”, Barry Callebaut is working to make its electricity consumption, too, sustainable and secured that the electricity it will use for 2022 will be 100% green energy.

Barry Callebaut Turkey continued the step it took in 2021 to get the electricity for its factory entirely from renewable sources and was awarded the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) this year, too. The electricity-based carbon footprint of the factory of Barry Callebaut Turkey, which will meet its entire electricity consumption for the year from sustainable energy, will be “0”.  

Pointing out that the transition to sustainable resources should no longer be regarded as an asset but as a necessity, Barry Callebaut Turkey's General Manager Ahmet Turgut emphasized that all actors of the community need to take action for the protection of natural resources. Ahmet Turgut. “Compared to the 2021 fiscal year, we have achieved a 20% decrease in the energy we use with the projects we have done in the 2022 fiscal year. All of the electrical energy used by our facility as of January 2021 is green energy certified with I-REC Certificate. We have secured that the electricity we will use for 2022 will be 100% green energy.”
