Murat Bozkurt, Member of the Association of Pasta Manufacturers and Industrialists (MÜSAD), called the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for auditing pastas with Private Label brand. Bozkurt claimed that almost all of these products were adulterated.

Pasta Sector was assessed within the framework of the COVID-19 Conferences organized by TGDF Akademi that exists within the structure of the Federation of Turkey Food & Beverages Industries Associations. The statements of Murat Bozkurt, MÜSAD Board Member and Barilla Supply Chain Director made tremendous impact at the conference. He said that almost all of the Private Label pastas known as grocery brands are adulterated. Explaining that there may be up to 300% price differences between the grocery shelves in Turkey, Bozkurt stated that this is going against the grain. Claiming that the worst examples of adulteration is occruing in the pasta sector, Bozkurt said that they analyzed the Private Label branded pasta sold at the groceries and that they submit their documents if requested by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Murat Bozkurt stated that, in line with the relevant communique, pasta is produced with durum wheat and said, "But unfortunately, all the Private Label pasta brands use bread wheat, even coarse wheat, instead of durum wheat. Those using coarse wheat confessed the issue before the TMO President. Very low quality pasta made from coarse wheat was placed on the grocery shelves even during this COVID-19 period. You can even sell this low quality pasta at quarter price of ordinary pasta. We, as all companies that sell branded products, are suffering from this.”
