Erdogan: Grain crisis solved, shipments to continue

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave the good news about the Grain Corridor Initiative, which was suspended by Russia. Stating that he had a meeting with Russian President Putin yesterday, President Erdoğan said, "Grain shipments will continue as before."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements about the Grain Corridor Deal, which concerns the whole world, at the group meeting of his party.

President Erdoğan shared the good news about the grain shipment that was stopped due to Russia's suspension. "I met with Putin yesterday. I will meet with Zelensky today as well. After our meeting with Putin, (Russian Defense Minister Sergei) Shoigu called (Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi) Akar and announced that grain shipments would continue as of 12 o'clock today. Grain shipments will continue as before. Putin made a request at this point. He wanted the priority in grain shipments to be given to poor countries of Africa. Within the scope of this plan, the first shipments will be made to poor countries such as Djibouti and Sudan," Erdogan said.

Russian Ministry of Defense had announced that they decided to suspend the movement of ships along the grain corridor for security reasons on October 29. Hulusi Akar, Turkish Minister of National Defense stepped in after Russia's decision and started negotiations. President Erdoğan answered journalists' questions after the group meeting. Regarding how the grain crisis was overcome, Erdogan said, "You just leave it to me. I will explain this to Biden first, and then to you."
