Barilla grows, its carbon footprint reduces

Reaching 50 million people in more than 100 countries every day with its products, pasta leader Barilla reduces its carbon footprint while growing.  14_2Reaching 50 million people in more than 100 countries every day with its products manufactured in 30 plants totally including the one in Bolu, Turkey, Barilla continues to grow. According to the conclusions of sustainability activity report dated 2014, water and carbon emission of Barilla of which global size has grown 3% last year have reduced 20% in the last 5 years. Moving forward with a target to double the size until 2020, the company is planning to minimize its environmental impact diminishing its footprint on the planet all the time. Water usage has also decreased 20%. With its 30 production plant and more than 8 thousand employees, Barilla is likely to reduce its footprint 30% until 2020. Announcing their 2014-Sustainability Activity Report during a press meeting held in Italy, Claio Colzani, Group CEO of Barilla, said their performance in 2014 was better than they expected. Reminding that Barilla moved forward with a strategic step through the “Good for you, Good for the planet” motto in 2012, Colzani said as follows: “We targeted to move forward with this principle in environmental, financial and industrial management areas. By this aspect, we invested much in technology and quality. We reflected our working model and culture onto our business. We will continue to invest in order to develop all our abilities in production and organization areas. As Barilla, we have targets which are open, transparent and value-adding to humanity and the planet. In accordance with these targets, we will reduce our carbon footprint 30% while doubling our business size until 2020.” Giving a speech during the meeting, Guido Barilla, Executive Manager of Barilla, underlined that environmental sensitivity is quite essential for them. He added that as a company, Barilla is aiming to commit to create a well-being continuing in the future by influencing people and the planet positively.
