Pakmaya, one of the world-renowned brands of Turkey, was named as the winner of first prize in the category of R&D centers employing 36-50 staff at the 7th Technology Development Zones and R&D Centers Awards held by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Successful R&D centers were awarded at the ceremony attended by Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Turkish Standards Institute Chairman Adem Şahin, TÜBİTAK President Hasan Mandal, Turkish Patent and Trademark Agency President Habip Asan and many other guests. In the award ceremony, where 39 awards were distributed in 13 categories, Pakmaya (Pak Gıda) R&D Center won the first prize in Group B.
Pakmaya Executive Board Member and Director of Factories Tuncay Gürarda and Pakmaya R&D and Environment Director Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Türker were presented the award by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank. In a statement he made after the award ceremony, Mustafa Türker stated that they produce 250 thousand tons of yeast annually and export 75 percent of their production to nearly 150 countries. “In 1988, we laid the foundation of our first R&D center. With our over 30-year R&D history and qualified R&D staff, we develop and produce yeast species that will appeal to consumption habits and meet local needs in different parts of the world. Today, our R&D Centers, Pak Biotechnology Center as well as our Bakery and Pastry Research and Development Center (FAGEM) took as a mission to establish the link between product development and the market, and to touch the customer and identify their needs correctly while doing basic R&D”, he said.
