Organized under the umbrella of the International Pasta Organisation (IPO), the event is being jointly hosted by the Turkish Pasta Manufacturers Association (TMSD) and the Pasta Producers and Industrialists Association (MÜSAD).

TMSD President M. Aykut Göymen stated, “Today, Türkiye is the world’s third-largest pasta producer and the second-largest exporter. This success stems not only from our production capacity but also from our investments in modern technologies, innovation, and R&D. Hosting World Pasta Day 2025 once again in Istanbul is a great source of pride for us — both as a reflection of our industry’s achievements and as an opportunity to showcase our country’s capabilities on a global stage.”

MÜSAD President Nihat Uysallı emphasized that the event is not merely a celebration but also a step toward strengthening Türkiye’s claim to leadership in the global food market. He noted that this gathering carries great significance for the future of the global pasta industry.

Held every year on October 25 under the auspices of the International Pasta Organisation (IPO), World Pasta Day takes place in a different city around the world. Having successfully hosted the event twice before, Istanbul has already earned the trust and admiration of the industry. World Pasta Day was first established on October 25, 1995, at the Pasta Congress in Rome, following a proposal by Turkish producers. Pasta manufacturers from around the globe agreed that pasta deserved international recognition — and thus, a global celebration was born.

According to FAO, the International Pasta Organization (IPO), and recent market research reports, global per capita pasta consumption is projected to reach 9.5 kilograms in 2025. Italy (23 kg), Tunisia (17 kg), and Venezuela (13.6 kg) will retain their positions as the top three consumers, while in the Asia-Pacific region, interest in pasta is rapidly growing in China and Indonesia. A young population and urbanization are opening the doors to new markets. Global pasta exports are expected to approach 7.5 million tons in 2025.
