Türkiye’s cereals, pulses, oil seeds, and products sector reached a significant milestone by increasing its exports to the United States by 29% in the first five months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $350.7 million. As a result, the sector's share in Türkiye’s overall exports to the U.S. rose to 6.5%.
As part of this upward momentum, sector representatives participated under the Türkiye Food Exporters (TGİ) umbrella brand at the Summer Fancy Food Show, held in New York from June 29 to July 1. This event is considered one of the largest food exhibitions in North America.

Celal Kadooğlu, President of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association (GAİB), emphasized the strategic importance of the U.S. market for the Turkish food industry, stating:
“The U.S. market is highly competitive for global food exporters due to tariff barriers. Despite this, we are witnessing strong interest in Turkish products, particularly those from our Southeastern Anatolia Region. In the first five months of the year, grain exports from our region to the U.S. increased by 30.4%, reaching $132.9 million. Southeastern Anatolia accounted for 37.8% of Türkiye’s total grain exports.”
As part of the promotional activities at the Summer Fancy Food Show, special events were organized with the participation of 10 member companies under the "Southeastern Anatolia Food Cluster" UR-GE Project led by GAİB. In addition, a baklava tasting event held under the Turquality Promotion Project contributed to promoting the authentic flavors of Turkish cuisine.
