Dear readers…
We are together again with the 43rd issue of our magazine.
Flour, which is the greatest nutrient for humanity and one of the most important staple foods in the world, has helped people survive for thousands of years. Flour, which is an excellent source of protein, vitamins, fiber and complex carbohydrates and is considered to be “White gold for lifetime”, is the main ingredient in bread, biscuits, cakes, pastries, pasta, noodles and many other basic foods in the world.
For the last two years, March 20 has been celebrated as “World Flour Day” for flour, which is the world’s most consumed food product. As an important publication of the industry, we thank all of the worldwide stakeholders involved in production, processing, distribution and marketing of flour for their contributions.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 scourge continues to grip the world, despite the vaccine. The pandemic that has shaken economies also made the fairs that are showcases of our sector postponed. For nearly a year, many exhibitions related to bakery, pasta and biscuits industries, as in other sectors, were either postponed or canceled. The sector, which spent 2020 almost without a fair, made do with product promotions of companies in digital environment.
iba Munich and IBAKTECH Istanbul exhibitions, which are the fairs for which the industry had high hopes for this year, have been postponed due to surging number of cases. While IBAKTECH Istanbul Fair set a new date for March 2022, iba Munich promised its participants to open its doors in March 2023.
The whole world has accepted how important the vitamins are in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. In this issue, we have discussed vitamins, additives and improvers used in baked goods industry.
Hope to see you in our next issue...
