Panic buying, especially for flour and pasta, seems to end. People who stocked these products are now buying less of them.

Trendbox conducted sales analysis with the help of data gathered from more than 1000 salespoints in Istanbul. According to the Trendbox report, consumers preferred to go shopping on the last day before 4-day-long lockdowns of 23-26 April and 16-19 May. Wallet share of the products for the last day before lockdowns were 29% for non-alcoholic drinks, 13% for biscuits, cakes and wafer, 12% for breakfast food, 11% for bread, and 5% for nuts. The most demanded products were bread, bottled water, milk, and pasta on the eve of the 23rd of April. But especially snacks like biscuits, cakes, chocolate, and nuts were preferred on the eve of May Day. The highest increase in demand on 22th of April and the 30th of April was for the ice cream. But shopping for pasta decreased. Flour was not even on the list of most demanded products for the weekdays of 20-24 April. Shopping before the holy month of Ramadan which started on the 24th of April was not concentrated on the very last day. During the Coronavirüs crisis, consumers have a general tendency to buy hygiene products. But before Ramadan, breakfast food and snacks including the dates, the popular Ramadan food to break the fast were sold more. Trendbox gathers shopping data of traditional retail channels like grocery shops, kiosks, and small supermarkets in real-time and analyzes them.
