The Phytonutrients Research Center will serve 2,668 businesses consisting of flour, feed, pasta, bulgur, biscuits, semolina, and paddy factories as well as seed companies.
The Phytonutrients Research Center was brought into service under the roof of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to provide analysis services to factories producing phytonutrients. Phytonutrients Research Center, which will serve in Ankara on a total open space of 4,650 square meters and consists of 14 laboratories equipped with sophisticated technology, will contribute to the growth and development of the Turkish food sector. In the Research Center, analysis services will be provided to 1737 factories producing flour, pasta, bulgur, and biscuits as well as other products like feed, semolina, and rice. In addition, quality analysis services will be provided to the institutes affiliated with the ministry and 931 private seed companies during their improvement processes.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Pakdemirli stated that a 10-25 percent decrease in agricultural production is expected by 2050 due to the effect of climate change. Pakdemirlik cited research that shows that in the next 30 years, 60 percent more food will be needed than today to feed the growing population, and 15 percent more water will be needed for this production. Pakdemirli underlined that the most important weapon in our hands in this difficult situation is to carry out R&D, innovation, and technology development. “Only in this way can we guarantee our food security, look at the future with hope and hand this country down to our children with peace of mind,” he concluded.
