Cooperation between Eti and WWF-Turkey which has been continuing for 9 years brings positive results. Eti has released Eti Burçak Wheat product with Siyez, which is regarded as the forefather of wheat.

Acting to protect the legacy of Anatolia, to raise awareness about the types of traditional wheat and to convey our local wheat values such as Siyez, Gernik and Havrani to future generations, Eti Burçak and WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund) has carried out various activities throughout 2017 in a number of cities. Public institutions, universities and research institutes, business and local NGO representatives and wheat producers have participated in the “Turkey’s Wheat Atlas” panels held in Şanlıurfa, Kars, and Kastamonu which stand out with their local wheat variety.

A FIRST IN TURKEY BY ETİ BURÇAK!
Eti Burçak, for the first time in Turkey, has used the Siyez wheat which is regarded as the oldest species of wheat dating back to 10 thousand years in a biscuit of a packaged snack category and released Eti Burçak Siyez Wheat product.
The cooperation between WWF-Turkey which aims at protecting the biological variety and working for a future where human lives in harmony with nature and Eti Burçak which shows the importance it attaches to the sustainable agriculture by including the Siyez wheat to its production line together aim at increasing the awareness of the issue through bringing the local wheat kinds of Anatolia, especially Siyez, before the society.
Siyez is a cultivated form of wild wheat, Triticum boeoticum, which is grown in France, Morocco, former Yugoslavia and Turkey. It is thought to be domesticated for the first time in Karaca Mountain, which is located in Southeastern Anatolia region.
